A poetic documentary short film comprises photography, montages, archival imagery and moving images.
In this film, I share an insight into the relationship between my mother, Emma and her sister, Kate. Kate and Emma are born 14 months apart but have been mistaken many times as twins. I wanted to explore how they perceive their individual personalities and overall identity as sisters.

COLOURS IN THE DARK
A documentary collaboration with filmmaker Yvetta Sedlakava.
This film is an experimental moving-image piece that explores the multi-generational trauma of Yvetta Sedlakova’s family, stored in memory. Yvetta looks at the pain of the trauma carried on in her body and responds to it through dance and movement therapy. The film is assisted by an emotionally charged story of her grandmother’s challenging childhood.
The story is narrated by Yvetta’s grandmother, dance pieces performed by Yvetta and filmed by Yvetta and myself.
The filming occurred in a small village south of Brno, Czech Republic in April 2023.
